We're going to run a second set of playtests - free for all pre-registered players - the weekend of June 9th and 10th at Ye Olde Commons in central Mass.

All you need to do is a click single checkbox and a submit button, and you'll be moved to our 'Attending' email list.

If you haven't set up a membership yet, you'll need to do so before using the confirmation form.

=================

WATCH FOR EMAIL FROM panchen_23@houndsatthegate.net

In order to find out the exact details of where and when your first Alpha encounter will happen on Saturday you will have to receive an in-game email from panchen_23@houndsatthegate.net. Watch your Bulk / Junk / Spam folders! It is vitally important that you receive these in-game emails.

If you have not received an email frompanchen_23@houndsatthegate.net by Saturday, 1/27/2007, contact us immediately.

================

READ 'HOW THE GAME WORKS'

We've posted a page on the website that might help to clarify what you can expect from playing the game. http://www.osirissanction.com/osiris/content.asp?pageID=126

================

WHERE / WHEN / HOW

We've finalized our schedule and locations for Saturday and Sunday, but as noted above, you will receive specifics via an in-game email from panchen_23@houndsatthegate.net. In order to help you plan your weekend, we can give you the following general information:

  • Saturday Alpha Run: 12:00pm - 6pm, 2/3/2007
    Starting Location: within a 5 min. walk from Downtown Crossing T-Stop
  • Saturday Feedback Session: 6pm, 2/3/2007
    We'll switch over to 'out-of-game' mode after Saturday's Alpha play is finished so that we can get constructive feedback from you on your experiences, as well as chat a bit about what you can expect from Sunday's Theta runs.
  • Sunday Theta Run (morning session): 9:00am - 12:00pm, 2/4/2007
    Starting Location: Pandemonium Books, 4 Pleasant Street, Cambridge Sq., Cambridge
  • Sunday Theta Runs / Playtime (evening session): 7:00pm - 9:00pm, 2/4/2007
    Location: Pandemonium Books (again)
    Evening runs and overflow from earlier runs. When the schedule clears, we'll have some experimental playtime and out-of-game discussions about the day's events.

SUNDAYS THETA RUNS… WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

If you have a flashlight, we encourage you to bring it. Also, we suggest that you wear loose-fitting, layered clothing - black if possible - including a long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt (those airsoft guns can sting a bit!). Athletic shoes or combat boots are recommended.

If you have your own airsoft guns that you would like to bring, you must also bring documentation showing that the gun's rated muzzle velocity is 250 FPS or less. A printed-out product page from the internet will do the job, but must show matching manufacturer, model number, and the originating URL that you printed it from. It is 100% up to us to decide if we will let you use a gun of your own, as well as how many 'slots' it will cost you to take the weapon(s) into Theta.

You are also welcome to bring any airsoft / paintball apparel, such as your own masks, safety goggles, tactical vests, swat outfits, etc.

In all cases we always reserve the right to not allow any item of any type to be brought on a Theta run.

=================

HACK THE SYSTEM... ONLINE

As part of Theta, you will need to hack into real computers using our CoyoteSoft hacking interface. We've posted a demonstration version of it online, along with a walk-through document that tells you how to use it. If you want to complete the Theta run, it is highly recommended that you try it out:

http://www.osirissanction.com/osiris/coyotesoft

There's a link at the top of the page to the walk-through doc.

=================

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

NEVER BRING ANY AIRSOFT GUNS / RELATED EQUIPMENT TO AN ALPHA EVENT!!!

CARRYING AIRSOFT GUNS DURING ALPHA EVENTS IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN. IF YOU ARE FOUND TO BE CARRYING AIRSOFT GUNS OR RELATED EQUIPMENT AT ANY ALPHA EVENT YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY AND PERMANENTLY REMOVED FROM THE GAME.

This is no joke. Get caught with an airsoft gun on your person at an Alpha event, and you are done for good. Period.

1/10/2007 - ***UPDATED 1/23/2007

Playtest Weekend Announced!

Alright folks, after a hectic holiday season, we're running our first playtest weekend in Boston the weekend of February 3th and 4th.

  • Saturday. 2/3/2007:
    Saturday will consist of pure "Alpha" play - a plot-driven scavenger hunt for information around the city. All locations will be publicly accessible. The final location for the event will be a local bar/restaurant where we can get any feedback from you that you might be willing to share.
  • Sunday, 2/4/2007:
    On Sunday we'll send you your first Theta run! That's right... we're gonna put some airsoft guns in your hands, bomb disarmament tools in your pocket, and send you into the unknown. Earlier play will be plot-driven by Saturday's Alpha event, and have historic repercussions in future plot. A later out-of-game session will be run for experimentation and fun for those who are interested.

We're not prepared to release the location of Sunday's event yet, but we will tell you that it is in Central Square, Cambridge.

If you're interested in taking part in any or all of the weekend's events, contact us now with your name and email address.

10/22/2006:
Playtesting Phase

The Osiris Sanction is entering its 'playtest' phase in Boston!

During our playtest period, we'll be looking for any and all interested people to set up a free membership and attend our events for no charge. The goal is to get quality feedback from our playtesters so that we can we can improve the game before opening it to the general public.

If you're interested, please set up a membership. Our current predictions are that we will run the first Alpha events in early November, followed by the first Theta events in early December, but no dates have been finalized at the current time. By setting up a membership, or joining our email list (at left), we can notify you when dates have been finalized.

We need a minimum number of playtesters to justify running the tests themselves, so please tell your friends about the Osiris Sanction, and tell them to set up a membership!

Post-Playtest Membership & Event Fees:

After the playtest phase is over, there will be small fees associated with membership and attending Theta events.

  • Playtesters: If you set up a membership to become a playtester, you will be able to close your membership prior to the inception of any fees. We are not taking any payment information from any of our players during the playtest period, so there is no way you can be charged any fees unless you decide to continue playing the game after the playtest period.
  • Predicted Membership Fees: Membership fees are based on a monthly subscription. Paying these gives you access to all of Alpha (real world) and Beta (online) aspects of play. The monthly subscription is currently expected to be $10.
  • Predicted Theta Event Fees: When you want to go on a Theta Run, you will be charged a Theta Event Fee to cover our cost to run the event. The Theta Event Fee is currently forecast in the $25 per-player range. This price will, of course, vary as the number of players participating and the venue being rented for the event.
